Facebook launched Threads from Instagram, a new camera-first messaging app that helps you stay connected to your close friends.
INSTAGRAM THREADS:
"Threads" is an extension of Instagram’s Direct inbox that lets you quickly share text, photos, and videos with your “close friends” list. It also suggests constant, passive sharing of your location, status, and other intimate data, which both invites privacy concerns and causes some people to reconsider how they’re using that close friend's list.As reported by the blog post, "Threads by Instagram" is a standalone app available to download for users globally on both "Android and iOS" platforms. Unlike Instagram Direct, Threads lets users chat only with their close friend's list.

Instagram Threads first opens up directly to its camera which is the key feature of this messaging app. There are no filters and stickers on Threads and the only edit tool is colored text. You can send photos and videos to your frequently contacted close friends from the shortcuts tab below. Instagram also lets you customize the shortcuts tab by adding and removing close friends.
- Share Photos and Videos Instantly.
By using Threads we can share a photo or video with your close friends on Instagram in the easiest way. It opens directly to the camera and allows you to add shortcuts, so you can share what you’re doing in just two taps.
- Auto Status.
Similar to Snapchat, Instagram Threads requires your location to update your status according to where you are like.
You can choose from a suggested status (📚 Studying), create your own (😅 Procrastinating), or turn on Auto Status (🚗 On the move), which automatically shares little bits of context on where you are without giving away your coordinates. Only your close friends will see your status, and it’s completely opt-in. Instagram says that it will automatically update your status based on your location but without sharing your coordinates.
For auto status to work you will need to always allow location access to Threads.
